| Easy Chicken Paprikash |
Chicken Paprikash with Buttered Spaetzli......another memory from my childhood......
Fall-off-the-bone chicken in a creamy paprika sauce served with fresh homemade spaetzli.....YUM...YUM...YUMMY....
Nobody could make Chicken Paprikash like my Hungarian grandma......even my dad's Chicken Paprikash could not touch it...
Traditional Hungarian Chicken Paprikash is made using whole cut up chicken and sour cream and it takes few hours to prepare.
Well, I don't usually have a whole fresh chicken on hand
So the other night I decided to make Chicken Paprikash my way (using boneless chicken breast and whipping cream)....quick.....easy....simple....ready in 30 minutes.
I served it with mashed potatoes....another quick alternative for buttered spaetzli.
PRINTABLE VERSION:
Ingredients:
- 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
- 2 Tbsp Oil
- 1 Tbp Hungarian Paprika
- 1 Onion (chopped)
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Whipping Cream (or sour cream)
- 2 Tbsp Flour
- Salt
- Pepper
STEP 2: In a deep skillet heat oil on medium-high. Add chopped onion and saute until translucent. Add Hungarian Paprika and stir for a minute.
STEP 3: Add chicken and saute until the chicken is golden brown while stirring frequently.
STEP 4: Add water. Turn the heat down to medium, cover and cook for 20 minutes.
STEP 5: Meanwhile in a small bowl mix together whipping cream and flour until well combined.
STEP 6: When chicken is cooked and tender turn the heat up to medium high and while stirring pour in the cream and flour mixture. Cook until sauce thickens. Salt and pepper.
What did I tell you?
Quick.....easy.....simple and on your dinner table within 30 minutes.
Serve CHICKEN PAPRIKASH with mashed potatoes, rice, pasta or spaetzli.....the choice is yours, my friends.
