| Noodles With Cabbage & Smoked Sausage (Kapustové Fliačky ) |
Noodles with Cabbage and Bacon also know in Slovakia as Kapustové Fliačky is very simple, filling and cheap dish to make.
You can make it without smoked sausage as a vegetarian dish. You can also make it with bacon instead of sausage.
I like to make my noodles and cabbage (Kapustové Fliačky) with smoked sausage. I do not add sausage to the meal, but I put it on top in case one of my boys or myself doesn't feel like eating meat that night.
Ingredients:
- 1 Pkg Broad Egg Noodles (cooked)
- 1 Smoked Beef Sausage (optional) (cubed)
- 1 Tbsp Oil or Bacon Fat
- 1 Onion (chopped)
- 1 Head of Green Cabbage (finely shredded)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Caraway Seed (optional)
STEP 1: In a large pot fry cubed smoked sausage till well done. Remove the sausage and keep it warm.
STEP 2: Add bacon fat or oil and saute the onions for a minute or two.Add finely shredded cabbage. Stir well. Add salt, pepper and caraway seeds.
STEP 3: Saute all together till cabbage is nice and soft (not crunchy) and gets little golden glow.
STEP 4: Once the cabbage is cooked add cooked noodles into the pot. Stir well till everything is warm and well combined. Serve topped with smoked sausage.
For Vegetarian Option don't use sausage and replace bacon fat with vegetable oil.
